    Seller Says:

"The thing I love best about Culpeper would have to be that it is a Main Street town. The Culpeper Renaissance Committee has done a wonderful job with revitalizing the community not only with beautiful town decor, but fun entertainment throughout the year. Events such as the Gnarly Hops Beerfest and the Taste of Culpeper (wine festival), summer concert series, and our wonderful Farmers Market. New to the town of Culpeper is the renovation of the State Theater which recently celebrated 75 years. Local community members lovingly restored the old theater which now adds a wide variety of entertainment. We recently enjoyed Lyle Lovett and Bruce Hornsby concerts. Other events at the State Theater include movies and catered parties with dancing to live music.

With Culpeper being a small town community, you will get to know its wonderful citizens and always see a familiar face.

Our home is not in a traditional neighborhood, but we do have a neighbor community. A neighbor may live a mile away, but will always be at your doorstep in a hurry if needed. I have had occasions where I was by myself and needed help with my livestock. My neighbors immediately offered a hand....which I gladly accepted. Having the Hazel River close by, neighbors will get together for barbeques and river rafting. I have felt extremely safe and cared for over the years we have lived at Pleasant Hill. People look out for one another.

We purchased Pleasant Hill not only to restore a beautiful old house, but also for the rich Civil War history. We couldn't get enough of the stories of the Yankee soldiers camping out and visiting Pleasant Hill. Rixeyville was named for the Rixey brothers who built Pleasant Hill, Rosedale, and other farms in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed reading about the Rixey geneaology that can be found at the Culpeper Library. Pleasant Hill has a beautiful panoramic view of the north, south, east, and west. We especially love the sunset in the back over the Blue Ridge Mountains and the gorgeous sunrise out front, with a pink glow.

We are very proud of what downtown Culpeper offers in dining. There are many choices as you stroll down East Davis Street. It's About Thyme and Foti's boasts delicious fine dining with large wine selections. For fresh seafood, The Copper Fish has a great selection of fresh fish, oysters and shrimp. For something a bit more casual, you will enjoy Thyme Market or our newest addition to East Davis Street, The Restaurant offers incredible salads and sandwiches and is open for lunch and dinner. A great place to learn about cheese, wine and beer is Culpeper Cheese Company. Enjoy a cheese tray made with local cheeses as well as varieties from all over the world. You can also find delicious soups and Panini sandwiches. At the Cheese Company, you can also learn about beer and wine with tastings at the beer tap and back in the wine lounge."
